List of game genres that are available:

Action: A game that has a lot of action in it, usually associated with other genres.

• Examples:
  • Blood Rayne
  • Call of Duty
  • Devil May Cry

Adventure: A game that takes you on an adventure into a whole new world, also associated with other genres.

• Examples:
  • Grand Theft Auto
  • Star Trek
  • Resident Evil

FPS: Stands for First Person Shooter. In this style of game you play as the character and see what he/she sees.

• Examples:
  • Medal of Honor
  • Doom
  • Quake

MMO: Stands for Massively Multiplayer Online, Under this category is a few sub categories that branch off.

• MMORPG: Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game. It's a rpg game that is online and played with many players.
  • Examples:
    • World of Warcraft
    • Everquest
    • Anarchy Online

• MMORTS: Massively Multiplayer Online Real Time Strategy. There are not that many games of this type but you play a RTS online.
  • Examples:
    • Command & Conquer
    • Dreamlords
    • Ballerium

• MMOFPS: Massively Multiplayer Online First Person Shooter. Combines the FPS style game play and puts in online with many people.
  • Examples:
    • World War II Online
    • Neocron
    • Purge

Racing: A game that is solely based on driving.

• Examples:
  • Gran Turismo
  • Flat Out
  • Burnout

RPG: Stands for Role Playing Game. You play the role as someone or someones and participates in a story or creates a story. The player also controls actions, look (sometimes), weapons, stats and other things like magic.

• Examples:
  • Final Fantasy
  • D&D (Dungeons and Dragons)
  • Chrono Tigger

RTS: Stands for Real Time Strategy and is more for the strategist that can think fast.

• Examples:
  • Command & Conquer
  • Age of Empires
  • Full Spectrum Warrior

TBS: Stands for Turn-Based Strategy and is aimed for more towards the slower thinker.

• Examples:
  • Risk
  • Heroes of Might and Magic
  • Galactic Civilizations

TPS: Stands for Third Person Shooter. Also called over the shoulder for most games of this genre have the view point just over the shoulder of the character.

• Examples:
  • Metal Gear Solid
  • Tomb Raider
  • Gears of War

Shoot Em' Up: Sometimes abbreviated to "Shmup". A fast paced game which usually involes a single player navigating a constricted space whilst shooting and destroying a large number of enemies.

1337: Stands for being elite and is pronounced leet.

• Sentence 1: That dude gets all hotshots, he must be leet.
• Sentence 2: I'm fucking leet

AFK/AFC: Stands for Away from Keyboard or Away from Controller and means that you are not near your keyboard or controller.

• Sentence 1: AFK!
• Sentence 2: I thinks he's AFC

AYBABTU: If you are a gaming freak you should know what this is. "All Your Bases Are Belong To Us" is a popular game phrase that in the famous game Zero Wing.

BAMF: Meaning Bad Ass Mother-Fucker.

• Sentence 1: I'm a BAMF.
• Sentence 2: That there is a BAMF.

BRB/BB/HB/WB: Meaning Be Right Back/Be Back/Hurry Back/Welcome Back

• Sentence 1: WB, therealfirestarter.
• Sentence 2: BRB all.

BFG: Meaning Big Fucking Gun. A reference from the game "Doom"

• Sentence 1: Whats this? A BFG?
• Sentence 2: Do you have your BFG.

Boot: Kick or eject a player from the game or server

• Sentence 1: Boot Him.
• Sentence 2: He's a noob, boot him.

BSoD: The dreaded blue screen of death, when the computer caused an error and you get the blue screen.

• Sentence 1: Just got a BSoD, it sucks.
• Sentence 2: Never experienced a BSoD, I guess I'm lucky.

Camping or Camper: When a player or players waits to either ambush or to avoid detection.

• Sentence 1: He's a Camper, watch it.
• Sentence 2: I hate the whole camping idea, it's a cheap tactic.

D&D: Representing the famous game dungeons and dragons and most gamers know this term.

• Sentence 1: Lets go play some D&D.
• Sentence 2: Mom, I'm playing D&D leave me alone. :)

D-BAD: Stands for "Don't Be A Dick", and is a general rule for NoobToob.

• Sentence 1: Welcome to NoobToob, remember D-BAD.
• Sentence 2: If your going on a TF2 or COD4 social make sure you D-BAD.

DM: Meaning Death Match in almost any game where there is multiple players on one map.

• Sentence 1: Wanna play some UT04 (Unreal Tournament 2004) DM games?
• Sentence 2: I'm going to play some DM games.

Dupe: Meaning that something or someone is duplicating an item.

• Sentence 1: Can I dupe that sword of yours?
• Sentence 2: My items are all dupe.

Farm/Farming: When a player is constantly hunting or gathering for exp, loot, treasure or to make other people mad by taking there kill.

• Sentence 1: I love farming.
• Sentence 2: All you do in MMOs is farm, to me it's not fun.

Flame/Flaming: To criticize someone, usually for being a noob, bad gaming or just being stupid.

• Sentence 1: No flaming on this server, if you do you'll get the boot.
• Sentence 2: I love to flame fanboy cause they get so mad.

Frag: To kill or slaughter an opponent, mostly used in FPSs.

• Sentence 1: He just got fragged!
• Sentence 2: 25 Frags and 0 deaths, I'm a happy camper.

GTG/gtg/G2G: Meaning "Got to go", When someone leaves the game or room.

• Sentence 1: I GTG.
• Sentence 2: GTG, Talk to you tomorrow.

GG/GGA/GD: Good Game, Good Game All and Good Duel.

• Sentence 1: Good Game.
• Sentence 2: Good Duel.

Grats/Gratz/Concrats: used to congratulate someone who has lvled up or has won.

• Sentence 1: Congrats on winning the match.
• Sentence 2: Congratz.

Griefing/Griefer: One who uses tactics such as team-killing, vehicle stealing or spawn camping.

• Sentence 1: He a griefer, don't play with him.
• Sentence 2: If there is a griefer tell me and I'll boot him.

GZ: abreiviation of congratulations.

• Sentence 1: you leveled, gz.
• Sentence 2: gz on your engagement.

IDK/IDC: Meaning I don't know or I don't care.

• Sentence 1: IDK what your talking about.
• Sentence 2: IDC what you say.

Laggin/Lag/Lagger: A lagger is a person who computer is lagging the server.

• Sentence 1: I'm lagging.
• Sentence 2: Stop lagging!

KS: Kill Steal. Kill Stealing, when a person intentionally kills someone elses monster or enemy.

• Sentence 1: Stop KSing.
• Sentence 2: Oops, didn't mean to KS.

Leech/Leecher: A person who doesn't contribute to the team and who 'Leeches' off everyone else to either gain loot and/or experience.

• Sentence 1: He's a leecher.
• Sentence 2: If you leech you get booted.

Legit: legitimate, without the appearance of hacks or unbalancing the game in any way. Also can refer to weapons and items.

• Sentence 1: Is it legit?
• Sentence 2: Are you legit?

LOL: You should know what this means. It means, for all you who don't know, Laugh out loud.

• Sentence 1: LOL!
• Sentence 2: LOL, could think of anything else.

Loot/Looting: When you take/steal all the belongings of a dead person/thing.

• Sentence 1: Stop looting me when I die.
• Sentence 2: I love to loot the noobs.

LMAO: Stands for Laughing My Ass Off.

• Sentence 1: LMAO.
• Sentence 2: I'm LMAO.

LVL: An abbreviation for Level.

• Sentence 1: I just lvled!
• Sentence 2: What lvl are you?

LZR: An abbreviation for Loser

• Sentence 1: Stop being a lzr.
• Sentence 2: He's just crying cause he's a lzr.

Mob/Mobs: Stands for Mobile in game NPCs that are usually weak but swarm on you.

• Sentence 1: Watch out for the mobs.
• Sentence 2: The mobs will kill you, if your not careful.

Mod/Modding/Modder: A modification where a part or the whole game is changed to something completely different. A modder is a person who mods the game and is called modding.

• Sentence 1: He a great Modder.
• Sentence 2: Have you checked this mod out yet?

Newbie: Someone who is new to a game, usually confused with a n00b.

• Sentence 1: He is a newbie.
• Sentence 2: I wish newbies would read the instructions on how to play.

Noob/n00b: Like a newbie but is very annoying and is being an idiot. Everyone hates them because of it and are the ignorance of the gaming community.

• Sentence 1: Your such a noob!
• Sentence 2: Boot the noob from the server!

NPC: NPCs stand for Non-Playable Character and are seen in every game. They range from monsters to shop owners to people who are in the game and are non-controllable.

• Sentence 1: He doesn't do anything, just like an NPC.
• Sentence 2: I wish I had the money of an NPC.

Nuker: A character capable of doing high amount of damage in a unit of time.

• Sentence 1: Who is our nuker?
• Sentence 2: Can you teach me to become a nuker, I'm kinda new.

OMG/OMFG: Oh My God!/Oh My Fucking God

• Sentence 1: OMG, That was funny as hell!
• Sentence 2: OMFG, I cannot believe you said that!

Own/Owned: When you have defeated someone using unexpected means.

• Sentence 1: You just got owned!
• Sentence 2: Ohhh, Owned!

PK/PKer/PKing: Stands for Player Killer or Player Killing. When another player kills you with or without acknowledgment.

• Sentence 1: Watch out hes a PKer.
• Sentence 2: The best thing you get out of PKing is the satisfactions that you killed someone.

Plz: Meaning Please

• Sentence 1: PLZ!!!!!
• Sentence 2: Can I go with you, plz?

PvP: Player Vs. Player. In most MMOs they are places where you go to kill each other.

• Sentence 1: Wanna do PvP?
• Sentence 2: If you think you can beat me then lets PvP.

Pwn/Pwned: A misspelled variation of the word own, meaning you just kill someone using unexpected means.

• Sentence 1: I Pwned your ass
• Sentence 2: You just got Pwned.

Rape/anal rape/rapeage: like own/pwn, meaning to kill/be killed by something, fast, with no chance of retaliation, the attack was so powerful.

• Sentence 1: Man, I just got raped when I accidentally pulled a mob 10 levels higher than me.
• Sentence 2: You just got anally raped.
• Sentence 3: my main has some severe rapeage!

ROFL: A common alternative to LOL often used to express something even funnier, it means Rolling on the Floor Laughing.

• Sentence 1: I'm ROFL.
• Sentence 2: Man that made me ROFL!

ROFLMAO: A further improvement to ROFL it means Rolling on the Floor Laughing my Ass/Arse Off

• Sentence 1: ROFLMAO
• Sentence 2: ROFLMAO that was so funny, I'm nearly in tears.

Rush/Rushing/Rusher: Rush is to quickly advance on your opponent in just seconds/minutes. Rusher is a player who attempts to preform the rush tactics.

• Sentence 1: Are you a rusher?
• Sentence 2: Can you help me rush though this part?

Sega Master System/SMS: This was Sega's system to compete with the Nintendo but failed to topple Nintendo's gaming system. This system was released before the first Sega Genesis/Mega Drive that came out a couple years later. (Was only a 8-bit system, while Sega Genesis was 16-bit)

sry/srry: Means Sorry

• Sentence 1: srry!
• Sentence 2: I didn't mean to do that, I'm srry.

Tank: Refers to a character who has high attack and high defense and usually who rushes into combat first.

• Sentence 1: He is a Tank!
• Sentence 2: There isn't anything stronger than that Tank.

Woot/w00t: Expressing extreme happiness or joy. Also is an abreviation for "We own other team".

WonderSwan/WonderSwan Color: WonderSwan is a gaming device released by Bandai in 1999 and was to compete with the Neo Geo and Game Boy and later replaced by the WonderSwan Color.

WTF: Stands for What the Fuck

ZOMG: Misspelling of OMG which stands for Oh My God.
